Eltife Defends Position On Teacher Performance Bill

The radio campaign blasts Senator Kevin Eltife for not supporting a proposed Senate bill, that would essentially grade teacher performance.

Eltife argues it's okay to hold teachers accountable, but creating a job performance standard at a state level takes the power away from local school districts.

"I would prefer that the local districts create the models for accountability. That we leave that decision in the local school board's hands," says Eltife. "I don't like [Senate Bill 1643], I won't support it and a radio campaign is not going to change my mind."

Supporters say the bill will provide better teacher training and help for under-performing teachers.
