Tyler Rose Sunday Celebration

A dedication service at the Tyler Rose Garden brought in the new rose blooms of the 2007 season at the Tyler Municipal Rose Garden.

The"City of Roses" is home to the nation's largest Municipal Rose Garden.  From late April until frost, the Tyler Municipal Rose Garden blooms with over 35,000 rose bushes exhibiting approximately 500 varieties of roses.  More than 100,000 people from around the world visit the Rose Garden annually.  The thriving rose industry, which began at the turn of the century, continues today with approximately one-fifth of all commercial rose bushes produced in the United States grown in Smith County, while over one-half of the nation's rose bushes are packaged and shipped from this area.

"We just want everyone in Tyler to see how beautiful the garden is. Smell the roses. We have tourists from all over but sometimes Tylerites forget about the local beauty," said Tyler Rose Festival Association member Jennifer Gaston.

"This is what Tyler is really all about its just so beautiful and peaceful here," said 2007 Rose Festival Queen Grace Hartley Ramey.
