Hundreds Walk For March Of Dimes

Prematurity is the number one killer of America's newborns, and unfortunately those babies that survive often have life-long health problems.  This morning, hundreds gathered at Bergfeld Park in Tyler, to bring awareness to prematurity and raise money to help find its cause.  Walk America is the March of Dime's largest fundraiser.  Lara and Danny Cavin had their son, Will, 12 weeks early, and say premature birth can happen to any pregnant woman.

"It was a complete surprise to us," said Lara. "We weren't really prepared for this, and since we had a premature child of our own we became more interested in the search for helping premature babies, as well as, the support it offers for the families and because that has happened to us we want to be advocates."

For more than 65 years, the March of Dimes has saved millions of babies and children from death and disabilities.
