Walls Inspires Crowd With Story Of Organ Donation

He made a career out of making opportunities for the Cowboys and Giants to stop big plays.

These days, former Pro-Bowler Everson Walls has made an opportunity for his best friend to live a healthy life.

Just two months ago, the former NFL cornerback donated one of his kidneys to Cowboys teammate and best friend, Ron Springs. Springs was battling diabetes and was taking a turn for the worse.

It was one of the stories Walls shared Thursday  night when he spoke at Texas College's Athletic Banquet.

"It really, it inspired a lot of people," Walls said of the kidney donation. "Just like I was inspired to do it, I'm passing it on inadvertently. Sometimes it just comes like that. People have come up to me talking about the problems they have had in their family with diabetes. It gives me a chance to talk to them and learn more about it. This is something that just really didn't go on with my family and I was just ignorant to all the facts in that regard."

Both Everson and Ron are making a full recovery.

KLTV 7's Maya Golden sat down for a one-on-one interview with Everson Walls. She will have more of his story Sunday night, April 29, on KLTV 7 Sports at 10.

With the smallest enrollment in District 17-5A, and really across the entire classification, Lindale could use that as an excuse for a sub-par season. But under defensive coordinator, turned head coach Chris Cochran, that won't be the case.
