East Texas Woman Says Business Kicks Down Her Door For Not Paying Bills

A Jacksonville homeowner has her front door kicked in, all because she says she is late on her bill. The Jacksonville woman rents appliances from Rent A Center in Jacksonville.  Last Thursday night, the company paid Amanda a visit, which in the end sent one employee to jail.

It's a night, Amanda Christopher of Jacksonville says she can't stop thinking about.

"I heard someone banging on my door," said Amanda Christopher. "It wasn't like a knock. It was a bang.  There was knocking on the windows, beating on the side of the house, all the way around the house. One person was in the back, and one was in the front." Amanda was taking a bath when the banging began, and says when it wouldn't stop she went into her living room to see what was going on.

"When I peaked around the corner he had his right foot inside my door, half his body inside my door looking around, yelling Amanda I know you are in here," said Christopher. That's when Amanda decided to call 9-1-1.   The Cherokee County Sheriff's Department arrested Sanford Seepersad, 38 of Palestine and charged him with criminal trespassing. Rent A Center would not go on camera, but says they stand by Seepersad. They say he and another employee went to Amanda's house to pick up some appliances. When Amanda didn't answer the door, the company says Seepersad began writing a note on Amanda's door, and that's when it swung open.  Amanda says she admits being late on last month's bill, but says it should have been handled differently.

"He did not have the right to force his way through my door," said Christopher. Amanda also says she's returned her appliances to Rent A Center. Rent A Center says Sanford Seepersad is still working for the company.
