East Texans Walk For Special Needs Children

At Rose Rudman Trail in Tyler Saturday, East Texans gathered to walk a mile and support those needing our help.   The Arc of Smith County held its 18th annual Walk-A-Mile For A Special Child Saturday morning.  It's the ARC's largest fundraising event, which helps those children with special needs live a more normal life.

As one participant says, it gives these children a brighter future.  "Their future is so bright because they have so many people to help them," said Walk-A-Mile participant Jeff Soweel.  "There are so many organizations like this walk, and so many people willing to come and help and there's more chances for these kids than there ever have before. "

This year's honorary walk co-chairs were Texas Representative Leo Berman and his wife.  The honorary walk child was 7-year-old Trenton Browning.
