SOUTHAVEN, MS -- Chris Brassard and Jason Basile each scored twice and Ken Carroll stopped 29 of 31 shots to give the Mudbugs their first win of the series. Memphis now leads in the series 2 games to 1.
Despite controlling the offensive tempo of the first period, the Bossier-Shreveport Mudbugs had two costly turnovers. Louis Dumont scored at 11:53 and 13:54 to give Memphis a 2-0 lead. The Mudbugs stayed persistent, peppering Kevin Schieve with 21 shots on goal in the first period. The Bugs gained new life on a four minute double minor to Phil Aucoin. Cam Abbott skated past the Memphis defense at the blue line and fired a backhander that was stopped by Schieve, the rebound went right to Ryan Fairbarn who scored to get Bossier-Shreveport on the board.
The Mudbugs played their best period of hockey in the series in the second frame. Bossier-Shreveport uncorked three straight goals. Chris Brassard scored his first goal of the playoffs, ripping a slap shot in at 5:14. Jason Basile then scored twice, once on a wrist shot from the highslot at 11:50. He then converted a rebound on a two-on-one at 14:17.
Chris Brassard added his second goal of the game in the third. Cam Abbott sprung him with a lead pass for a breakaway. Brassard deked and scored to at 8:05 in the period. Game four is scheduled for 7:05 on Saturday night at the DeSoto Civic Center.
