Longview Emergency Sirens Expected To Be Fixed Today

Longview's fire chief said the emergency warning sirens in the city are expected to be fixed today, in case of the potential of severe weather in our area.

Just a week and a half ago, five siren locations in the city did not work. The sirens were retested.  After a retest on Monday, four locations did not work. The one near Longview High School failed both times.

The contractor told Longview's fire chief that the siren near the high school is not such an easy fix.  The contractor will have to rewire the siren's transformer in order to get it working. There's no word on what the backup plan will be, if that does not happen.

Longview's fire chief said their contractor should be installing new temporary batteries in the rest of sirens to ensure your safety.
