You can add Gold Medalist's to their titles. Four Tyler police officers traveled to Adelaide, South Australia last month and competed in the 2007 World Police and Fire Games. They won six gold medals in both individual and team biathlon's, which includes running, shooting, and bench press. This morning, the city council recognized the officers for a job well done.
"There were about probably about 8,500 to 9,000 athletes, fire fighters from all over the world who went to Australia to compete in different athletic events," said Sergeant John Brown, who won gold in the team biathlon.
"It was amazing just to see everybody together," said Officer Dianna Massey, who won gold in women's biathlon. "I mean you felt like a big family. You weren't, it wasn't like a bunch of strangers." Some of the officers say they have been training for the World's Games since the last world's in 2003.
