The Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Whitehouse presented a plaque to the Whitehouse High School Key Club for reaching out to them in February. On Valentine's Day, the VFW says the group made valentine's card's and brought them to the VFW, something veterans say doesn't happen very often.
"A lot of these people at the VFW are elderly and that was probably the only correspondence they received other than their pension checks that whole month, and that meant a lot to them," said Tom Sowell of the VFW.
"We have never had an award like this, but like I said what they've done for us I think is just so much greater," said Kathryn Garcia, president of Key Club. The Key Club is the largest national high school community awareness organization.
