Protecting Your Vegetation During Cold Snap

A nursery owner we spoke with said, this time of year, plants are more susceptible to harsh weather conditions because they've just bloomed.

Floyd Trammel of Tramtex Nursery Inc. suggests bringing potted plants inside.  And to protect the ones in the ground, he says put a regular bed sheet over plants that have new growth.  "If they used plastic, if they didn't get it off before the sun came up, the plastic would be more likely to burn the new growth and they would have damage, just like they would have if they would have been exposed to freezing temperatures," said Trammel.

Trammel says if your plant does happen to get damaged because of the weather, to cut off the parts that are brown.
