East Texan Shooting For The Olympics

17-year-old Bullard resident Taylor Hodges is hoping to turn is love for skeet shooting into a trip to the 2012 Olympics. About six years ago, he began skeet shooting with his dad to help improve their hunting skills. That led to participating in 4H shooting events. Two years ago, he was invited to Colorado to take part in Junior Olympic trials. And now, as one of the top 10 shooters in the country under the age of 21, he is a member of the Junior Olympic Shooting Team.

"It is really exciting," Hodges said today from the Tyler Gun Club.  "I've been really excited. I've kind of been walking on a cloud lately. I'm like, 'am I really on the team?' But I've been really, really blessed by God just to be on this team."

Hodges is scheduled to take part in a Junior Olympics match at the Olympic training center in Colorado Springs on May 15th.
