Junior High East Texas Girls Learned About Career Opportunities

Teenage girls invaded TJC this morning for the annual Expanding Your Horizons Career Conference.   Students in 6th, 7th and 8th grade attended two classes of their choice, ranging from chemistry, to agriculture, to health education.  KLTV 7's very own Sports Anchor Maya Golden taught a class on television news. The girls say they learned a lot.

"I went to a pre-med class awhile ago, and I was learning about tobacco and how it messes up your gums and stuff, which was really gross," said Rusk Junior High 6th Grader Destiny Jared.

"I was learning about respiratory technology and news reporting. Mostly, I want to be a pediatrician," said Brownsboro Junior High 7th Grader Elizabeth Tran.

An adult program was also offered this morning for parents to learn how to motivate students to begin career plans now.
