A follow up on a tire dump that is concerning some residents in Hawkins. Thousands of tires have been sitting at a lot at the intersection of Highway 14 and Highway 80 for a few months now. On Monday, "Foster and Son Scarp Tire Service" began its first full day of shredding operations.
The owner of the company told us, the company bought the shredding machine months ago and that they've been working on putting it together. The owner says he understands residents' concerns about the tires creating a breeding ground for insects. He assures residents he's working as fast has he can to keep that from happening. He says he expects it to take a couple of months to shred all of the tires.
