East Texas Festivals Ring In Spring

It's the prettiest time of year to go for a run through the Azalea District in Tyler, and that's exactly what hundreds of people did this morning.   The annual Azalea 10K run featured runners from all over East Texas Saturday. The event benefits Children's Village in Tyler, a group home that takes care of abused and neglected children. A two mile fun run also took place.  The best time was around 11 minutes.

The Azalea and Spring Flower Trail though the historic Azalea District goes until April 1st. Tomorrow the East Texas Porcelain Art Exhibit will take place from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., as well as, a flower show from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Both will be held at the Woman's Building in Tyler. The events are free.

The city of Palestine kicked off its 69th annual Dogwood Festival this weekend. Last year, the event drew more than 8,000 people each weekend, and event officials say they are expecting just as high of a turnout this year.   Festivities continue all day Sunday and again the next two weekends, including old time music festivals and bike tours.
