An East Texas inmate, charged with capital murder is on the loose tonight. Authorities say he could be armed and is considered dangerous. Friday, authorities from Several East Texas agencies were out searching for the inmate who escaped from the Franklin County Jail Friday morning. That's on Highway 37 in Mount Vernon. Deputies say they believe Mark Aaron Rains, 21 of Mount Vernon jumped the fence while he was outside exercising. Authorities say they later found his jail shirt and jacket, and then got a call he was seen in Mount Vernon wearing blue jeans and a t-shirt. Deputies say Rains is a murder suspect for shooting and killing Robert Whiteside, 56 back in November, at a bed and breakfast. Deputies believe Rains is somewhere near Mount Vernon. Rains is 6'1", about 165 pounds. He has blonde hair and blue eyes. Anyone with information should call the Franklin County Sheriff's Department.
