East Texas children got to learn some cooking skills this afternoon. The Junior League of Tyler organized an event called "Kids in the Kitchen". The event gives kids a chance to take part in a hands-on cooking activity. They get to learn how to make easy, healthy, kid-friendly snacks they can make with food sent home with them from the East Texas Food Bank.
"'Kids in the Kitchen' is an opportunity for our kid's cafe to learn about nutrition and nutricious snacks they can not only have at their after-school program, but do at home as well," said East Texas Food Bank executive director Robert Bush.
The goal of the program is to reverse the growth of childhood obesity.
