Mineola Man Guilty Of Possessing Child Porn

United States Attorney Matthew D. Orwig announced today that a 24-year-old Mineola man has pleaded guilty to child pornography charges in the Eastern District of Texas.

Wesley Adam Taylor entered his guilty plea today before United States Magistrate Judge Judith Guthrie and was taken into custody.

According to information presented in court, Taylor sent, using the United States Postal Service, two DVDs containing images of minors engaging in sexually explicit conduct to someone he believed would respond by providing other similar images.  Thereafter, a search warrant executed at Taylor's residence led to the discovery of a computer that contained more than 600 images of child pornography.

Taylor could receive up to ten years in federal prison and a fine of up to $250,000 at sentencing.  In addition, Taylor has agreed to forfeit his computer and related items.  A sentencing date has not been set.

This case is being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood.  In February 2006, Attorney General Alberto R. Gonzales launched Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse.  Led by the United States Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
