Longview ISD has announced a lone finalist for Superintendent. After an hour in closed session, the board of trustees unanimously passed a motion naming Dr. James Wilcox the next Superintendent. Wilcox has been serving as Superintendent of Waxahachie ISD for the past two years. The board ultimately chose Wilcox out of a pool of 59 applicants.
John Preston, Sr., Board President of Longview ISD, says, "we felt that he was the best fit. It's not about knowing the business, but how you fit with the community, and we feel that with the diverse community that Longview has to offer, he was our best fit."
Wilcox will begin serving as Superintendent after a 21 day probation period. That means he can't legally start until April 26.
