Burning Up The Road To Austin: Lady Mustangs Aim To Repeat

For the Martin's Mill Lady Mustangs the road to Austin is a path once taken.

In fact, it was a year ago the Lady Mustangs claimed the Class A Division I title and this week they look to repeat.

The Lady Mustangs looked more like rock stars at the sendoff in Martin's Mill Wednesday morning.

Students from the elementary, middle and high school gathered to cheer on the team.

The players then boarded the bus pumped up to defend their title.

"It's an amazing accomplishment," said junior Taylor Daniel,  "I mean, it's hard to win a state championship once and it's even harder to go back there the second time. So, we're really looking forward to it and we're excited to be here and we are ready to just go out and win it all."

"When we go down there it's important for us to remember that we're representing them," said last year's tournament MVP, Jordan Barncastle. "We're representing all those little kids and they look up to us and so I think it's pretty cool and it makes us more excited."

The Lady Mustangs take on Lindsay in the state semifinals Thursday morning at 8:30 a.m. at University of Texas at Austin.
