TJC Hires New Football Coach

Tyler Junior College today introduced Danny Palmer as its new head football coach.  Palmer joined the TJC Apaches' staff in December as defensive coordinator. He was named acting head coach last month when head coach Jamie Critchlow was fired after being arrested on DWI charges.

"We've got the best school, the best administration, the facilities, the best stadium, large population," Palmer said at today's press conference.  "We should be competing for a championship every year."

A Tyler native, Palmer served as head coach and athletic director at Chavez High School in Houston before joining TJC in the fall.

His coaching career includes stints as head coach at Texarkana, Pampa, Waco Richfield and Bonham high schools and assistant coaching positions at UT-Arlington, Oklahoma State University, Northwest Mississippi Community College, Austin Peay State University, Texas Southern University and University of Houston.
