Family Donates Truck To Tyler Cattle Barons' In Memory Of Loved Ones

With cancer survivors growing each year, chances are you may know someone who has battled the disease. Every year, the Tyler Cattle Barons' Gala works to raise money to find a cure, generating more than 5 million dollars in the last 2 decades.  One East Texas family, affected by cancer, now going the extra mile for this cause.

"We all have friends and family that have had cancer but for us it hit home," says Pam Hall.

She is the owner of Hall Buick, Pontiac, GMC in Tyler and her family has been affected by cancer.

"My mother was diagnosed at age 59, when I was pregnant with our daughter Teresa.  She is named after my mother, the only granddaughter.   My mother died 9 months later.   They did try to operate but it was inoperable and she was a experimental program for months but there was nothing that they could do," says Pam.

Pam's mother was not the only family member who has battled cancer.

"She has eight brothers and sisters and five of the eight brothers and sister died a little over a two year span of each other," says Pam.

That's why Pam and her family decided to donate a 2007 GMC Sierra Truck for the chance drawing for Tyler Cattle Barons' worth more than $35,000. It is fully loaded with almost every bell and whistle possible.

"I love the idea that the funds are going directly for the research and education.  I hope they find a cure for cancer. I think we have made great strides, 24 years ago my mother died, today maybe they could have done more," says Pam.

The hope that others will survive.

If you would like a chance to win the 2007 GMC Sierra.... you can buy tickets at Hall Buick, Pontiac GMC or the American Cancer Society. Tickets are $100 each- and only 500 will be sold.
