Texas Tourism Celebrated At State Capitol

A parade of colorful characters stormed the State Capitol Tuesday. Everybody from Batman and Robin to Daffy Duck gathered to salute Texas tourism.

Even real furry and feathered friends were on hand to help generate interest in the tourism industry, the benefits of which are felt statewide.

"We're talking about jobs, careers, economic development lots of taxes, and the preservation of the lot of the thing we have that we think are special in Texas," said Paul Serff, Texas Travel Industry Association.

Texas is the second most visited state in the nation behind California. The tourism industry directly and indirectly provides nearly a million jobs statewide.

In 2005, visitors to the Lone Star State spent nearly $50 billion.
