UT Tyler Marks First Black History Celebration

Expressions of praise dance, singing of the Negro National Anthem and the drum line from Grace High School put on quite a show.

Darryl Bowdre with the Tyler Metro Chamber encouraged students to strive for success. A message the Black Student Association at UT Tyler says appealed to the diverse crowd.

"It's for every student on this campus, off campus, it doesnt' matter what school they go to, they don't even have to be in school. They can just come out here and help us celebrate the black history celebration," says BSA President Belita Gill.

The Black Student Association hopes to make it a bigger event next year.
