More Details Emerge On Alleged Intruder Shot By Homeowner

The Smith County District Attorney's Office is now investigating a deadly weekend break-in. The alleged intruder, Hiram Chambers, 33, of Tyler, was killed in the break-in. KLTV 7 News found out, Chambers had previous arrests for burglary, resisting arrest, and theft.

Terry Graham, who owns Graham Farms in Bullard, says he shot Chambers when Chambers reached for something in a bag, and reportedly tried to run him down with his car. Smith County Sheriff's officials say Chambers did have two loaded weapons.

"It's a sad thing that Mr. Graham will have to live with for the rest of his life but it was one of those things that it appears to us that he was justified with what he did," said Smith County Sheriff J.B. Smith.

Smith says an autopsy on Hiram Chambers has been ordered, which is standard procedure.
