Local Middle Schoolers Making A Difference Nationwide
A local middle school is doing all they can to make a national difference. Wednesday, students at Forest Park Magnet School in Longview released hundreds of balloons to kick off their fundraiser called "We learn... So they live." The school is teaming up with St. Jude's Children Research Hospital. For every question they get right on the TAKS test this Spring, they're asking for people in the community to pledge money.
"We're going to use what the students are already learning, what they're doing in their classes to focus on their studies so that it benefits them and they can become all that they can be, but also so that is provides medicines in a direct and real way for children suffering from cancer, aids, other catastrophic illnesses," says Principal Margaret Davis.
The students will be asking for sponsors starting Wednesday through February 27.
