Like me, many of you have expressed frustration at one time or another with the post office. So I offered a challenge to all of you, to let me know of a postal employee in your neighborhood who goes the extra mile to deliver great customer service. I received many encouraging stories, but the most heartfelt one came from James in Gladewater. A disabled Vietnam vet, James needs to navigate his electric wheelchair down his 800-foot driveway - that's the length of 2 ½ football fields! - just to get his mail. So when the bundle is large or he receives his boxes of medicine, postman Dwayne Moore makes the trip for him, bringing the mail to James' front door. Mr. Moore is a fine example of going the extra mile to help a fellow East Texan. That's why James and I want to recognize Gladewater postman Dwayne Moore for making this A Better East Texas.
