His sacrifice saved four of his fellow soldiers, including two East Texans. Tuesday, members of congress, including Congressman Louie Hohmert recommended Army Specialist Ross McGinnis for the Congressional Medal of Honor. McGinnis, who was from Pennslyvania, alerted soldiers of a grenade in Iraq and then covered it with his body. Two of the soldiers McGinnis saved are Private First Class Sean Lawson of Tyler and Sergeant First Class Cedric Thomas of Longview.
