Man Succumbs To Injuries, Becomes Longview's 1st Traffic Fatality Of 2007

At approximately 5:31 pm, January 25, 2007, Longview Police responded to the 4700 block ofJudson Road for an accident with injuries.

According to the initial accident report, a 2006 Pontiac driven by 19 year old Jeremiah Canaan Nash of Longview,  was traveling northbound in the inside lane of the 4700 block of Judson Road when he swerved to miss another vehicle that drove into the intersection from Pliler Precise.

Nash then lost control of his vehicle and struck the driver's side of a 2003 Chevrolet pickup driven by 66 year old Roy Thomas Arnold of Longview, which was traveling southbound on Judson Road.

Arnold was taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center with what was described as non-incapacitating injuries; however, his condition began to deteriorate and Mr. Arnold died on February 12, 2007 as a result of the injuries he sustained in the accident.

Mr. Nash was issued a citation for Failure to Control Speed at the time of the accident.  The vehicle that drove into the path of Mr. Nash from Pliler Precise fled the scene.

Mr. Arnold becomes the city's 1st traffic related fatality of 2007.
