Longview Toy Store Burglarized

A man is arrested in Longview following a police chase after he allegedly stole some toys. It happened around 8:00 a.m. at Big Mikes Hobbies and Toys. That's in the 2,100 block of Gilmer Rd.

Police say a witness spotted the suspect breaking into the store, grabbing items and then racing off in a truck. After a short chase, police caught the suspect on Highway 80 and found that he had stolen two boxes of remote controlled cars.

"It appears to us as if someone backed up into the business and broke the window and knew exactly what they wanted went inside got the items and immediately fled the scene.  We were lucky to have a citizen see what was going on and know the owner of the business and follow them until arrived to take the person into custody," said Longview Police Sgt. Ben Kemper.

The suspect, whose name has not been released, is scheduled to be arraigned tomorrow morning.
