Just when you thought you'd heard everything, comes the report of two arrests made in an Ohio County, Kentucky case of incredible deception, fraud and abuse.

The case involves a couple allegedly giving their ten year old son drugs to make him appear ill so they could scam local churches and individuals out of over $12,000, some of which was used to pay for a trip to Daytona Beach, Florida.

Kentucky State Police tell 14 News that 33-year-old Milton A. Sheets IV, and 29-year-old Sharon A. Sheets of Beaver Dam were arrested in Hammond, Indiana last week. The pair has since been brought back to Ohio County to face charges of First Degree Criminal Abuse and Theft by Deception.

Here's what happened, according to police. Since September of 2005, the Sheets led people to believe their son had cancer and other illnesses and were collecting money from several churches and citizens of Ohio County.

A release from KSP says that several people reported seeing the boy appearing healthy on some days, and very sick on other days. It was reported from witnesses that the Sheets' son was seen jumping on a trampoline the day after supposedly having brain surgery.

KSP says the Sheets may have been overmedicating their son in order to make him appear sick. The investigation revealed that in December of 2006, people were told the Sheets' son had stage four cancer, and needed emergency surgery in Seattle. Washington. Money was given to the family for the trip, but it was discoverd they instead went to Daytona Beach.
