Bo Duke From Dukes of Hazzard Stops In Tyler

For the second time, in less than three months, a famous television star stops in East Texas with his more famous car. John Schneider, or Bo Duke, from the Dukes of Hazzard is in Tyler to promote his new movie and benefit the American Cancer Society.

Schneider received a greeting at Saturn in Tyler that he sees all over the country. Fans waiting in line with pictures, t-shirts and of course, the general Lee car.

"It certainly means that Dukes of Hazzard has had a good life long effect on many generations," said Schneider. "I mean you look out there, there's little tiny kids who's parents hadn't even met yet when Dukes of Hazzard first started."

Twenty-four years ago, during Dukes of Hazzard, Schneider decided to make a movie the whole family can enjoy. His film, Collier and Company is now showing all over the country.

"The movie experience has been the best experience of my life," said Schneider. "Before Dukes of Hazzard, I was one of those kids that ran around with a Super 8 camera and made car movies with fist fights and chases and all kinds of stuff, and before that was bikes, so I feel a lot like I did when I was 16."

Schneider's not just in town for his movie, but also to help the American Cancer Society by attending a benefit luncheon.  "If you are fortunate enough to have a celebrated position in life, then you have an obligation to do something good with it," said Schneider.

You can see Schneider at the American Cancer Society Benefit Luncheon Sunday at the TASCA Ornelas Center in Tyler at 1:00 p.m. where he will sign autographs and take pictures. Tickets are $20.  Collier and Company is now showing at Carmike Cinema in Tyler until February 2nd.
