Annual Longview Expo Begins

The 25th annual east Texas boat, R-V, and camping expo is a three day event that draws thousands of visitors to Longview. For one weekend every winter, Maude Cobb activity center is turned into a sportsman's paradise, with every new gadget that an R-V fan or fisherman would want.

"Of course each year we think what could happen next and once again the manufacturers have outdone themselves, a lot more entertainment a lot more home features" said exhibitor Brad Shaw of Tyler R-V center.

"Everybody's bring in the latest and greatest, the R-V's are state of the art , the bass boats are state of the art you've got everything from sound systems to entertainment systems" said event coordinator Mitzi Barnes.

From the latest in graphite fishing rods, to hand crafted fishing boats.

 "A lot of these fishing boats come with dual g-p-s, or global satellite positioning systems, and has it in the front and the back also their tied together" said legend boats exhibitor Ellis Kirby.

R-v's that have automatic power leveling, and a rear camera system for backing up.

"You just push a button and it automatically levels the coach" said Hayes R-V center exhibitor David Murphy.

       And even some things you would only expect to see in a stationary home.

"Fireplaces in R-V's this year, we've seen that in the past a little, more and more with fireplaces" says Shaw.   

     For the kids, there will also be pony rides, a bass fishing tank , and an exhibit of royal white tigers on hand. The show opens tomorrow at Maude Cobb from noon till 9 p-m, Saturday from 9 am to 8 pm and Sunday from 1 pm to 5 pm. Tickets are 8 dollars for an adult weekend pass, 5 dollars for a day pass. Children 6-to-12 are 1 dollar, and 5 and under are free.
