The city of Big Sandy is beside itself right now with pride for their native son. Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith took time in yesterday's post game press conference to recognize his home town. Today, his home town is recognizing him, painting store and car windows in his honor. There's a lot of folks rooting him on and hoping "da Bears" bring home a Super Bowl championship.
"He's such a great guy and we're so proud to have him as a citizen," said Susan Hubbard of the Big Sandy Chamber of Commerce. "I mean, knowing that he grew up here. I think a lot of his character that he has was established here. So, I would say that it's not Cowboys country here right now, it's Bear country."
To show their excitement for Lovie, Big Sandy has scheduled a city-wide pep rally for Super Bowl Sunday, February 4th, at 4:00 in downtown Big Sandy. Then, at 5:00, they are holding a city-wide Super Bowl party at the Big Sandy Church of god on Highway 80. They will have food a and refreshments, and a projection screen TV, rooting the Bears on to victory.
