Former East Texas Pastor Pleads Guilty To Possession Of Child Pornography

A former East Texas pastor pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography Thursday morning.  Joshua Allen, 23 was a pastor at Tyler Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville. Back in September, investigators seized two laptop computers from his home containing more than 600 images of child pornography.   When Allen pleaded guilty of possession Thursday, the U.S. Attorney's Office said it would drop a separate distribution charge. His defense attorney said Allen wanted to plead guilty. "

"It's the best thing for him," said John Heath, Jr., Defense Attorney. "It's the best thing for the community. This case will send a message that it's not ok to engage in this kind of conduct. Josh understands that. He knew before he ever got caught that he shouldn't be engaging in this kind of conduct. "   Allen faces up to 10 years in prison. The U.S. Attorney's Office says his sentencing will take place in the next six to eight weeks.
