Pittsburg Woman Celebrates 107th Birthday

A Pittsburg woman is still active and healthy aft3er celebrating her 107th birthday. Bertha Dooley loves children, going to church and laughter,  and maybe that's her secret to living 107 years.

"I never would have thought I'd live this long, I love to cook love to go fishing and I love children"  says Dooley.

Her birthday was Tuesday. Bertha takes no medication, reads the paper everyday, without glasses. And she loves to cook. But she still has an independent spirit and wants to do things on her own, but with a sense of humor.

"She tries to run my life she tries to run everything. But she always volunteers so much information cause she's so bossy. When I get angry I say are you tired of living?" says granddaughter Barbara Hawkins.

"They ain't paying attention to what I say but I'm telling them right, I know what I'm talking about, some say I'll go when it's my time, but when is it time?" says Bertha.

She's survived the tragedy of losing her house in a fire 20 years ago, her husband passed away after 50 years of marriage, and she lives with her granddaughter, but through it all she has no regrets.

"I've enjoyed it fine, I've had a pretty good life" she says.

She plans to stick around, because even after 107 years, she's not done with life yet.    Bertha Dooley has a lot of family support, 6 generations of family members. One secret she did share with us,  she has a Sonic hamburger and a coke every single day.
