Goodyear Workers Return To Work

For the first time in three months, Goodyear employees returned to work.  This time, they know the plants future is bleak. On Thursday, union members ratified a contract that only keeps the Tyler plant open through 2007.

Tuesday, as employees came and left the facility during the shift change, they did so knowing their time here would be limited.  They say on the first day back the tension between management, scabs and the union was apparent and will take some time to get over.

Jim Wansley, president of Local 746 says, "There are a lot of emotions here. This was a difficult, difficult strike. People have got to get through their feelings about the company bringing in replacement workers and those kinds of things. But, you know, everybody's glad to be back at work."

Goodyear says despite the fact that thousands of workers did return to work, it will be weeks before they reach full production.
