Tornadoes? National Weather Service Investigates Friday's Storm

The National Weather Service out of Shreveport was in Smith and Cherokee Counties today and determined there were some small tornadoes that touched down in areas near Teaselville and up through Flint.

Today, as they surveyed the damage, meteorologist Bill Parker says it looks like an F-1 tornado came through with winds up to 100 miles an hour. He determine this not by looking at damaged buildings, but by looking at how the trees in the area fell.

"If the trees are blown all in one direction, then 9 times out of 10, that's going to be straight line winds. With this damage out here, I'm seeing a lot of trees that are laid in different directions, and that's giving me some indication that there was some circulation with this storm," says Parker.
