Arson Ruled In Longview Fire

An early morning fire in Longview has investigators looking for an arsonist, and a neighborhood worrying what might be next. It happened around 8:30 this morning at an unoccupied home in the 1800 block of 12th Street.   Investigators say the fire was started in the back of the home, quickly spreading and causing major damage. Area residents say they've seen a lot of drug activity, and fear that local drug dealers are trying to burn each other out of businesses.

"I'm very worried about this because I'm here all the time, with children all around I don't know how this could happen" said area neighbor Deric Jackson.

"This is the same scenario we've dealt with the other 18 or so fires we've had this year, this is an extreme hazard that is plaguing our city" said Mark Moore of the Longview Fire Marshal's Office.

Fortunately, no one was injured. Investigators ask that anyone with information call the Longview Fire Marshal's Office.
