State Health Department Inspects 30 Acre Illegal Dumpsite

The Texas State Health Department went out to a 30 acre illegal dump located off FM 747 Wednesday morning, to look through the trash and take samples.   After searching through the dump, Cherokee County Constable Eddie Lee says he found what he thought might be aspestos.

The state health department decided to come out and take samples. The health department says aspestos is supposed to be buried in designated landfills.   The samples will be sent to Houston to be looked at within the next two weeks. Constable Lee says no arrests have been made at this time. He says he's waiting on the TECQ to look at the dump to know exactly what charges need to be filed.
