East Texas In The Spirit Of Giving

More than a hundred volunteers gave up their time at home this Christmas to help those less fortunate.   The Salvation Army held its annual Christmas Dinner this afternoon, and despite the rainy weather there was a good turnout. KLTV 7's Sports Director Kevin Berns volunteered with his family. Volunteers say to them Christmas is about the spirit of giving.

"We are fortunate," said former Smith County Commissioner and volunteer David Stein. "We're blessed. We just want to share, and it's just something we want to do with the family. "

"To see how grateful and how fortunate that they make you feel, and whenever you smile at them you see that they, in their eyes they are so happy," said Lindsey Stein, volunteer.  No matter how young or old, volunteers say making this day special for those who need it most, is one of the best gifts they can get.
