East Texas Community Helps More Than 200 Families This Christmas

More than 500 East Texas children will have a special Christmas this year, thanks to a community that came together to help its families in need.   For four years, a group called Lindale's Christmas Helpers have collected toys and food to give to needy families. Saturday morning, the group handed out more than 200 boxes of food, bikes and bags of toys. All the gifts came from local businesses and people in the community.

"There is nothing better than watching a car load of kids come in and they see you carrying food boxes out, and you get a little reaction out of them, but when you start rolling out bikes and bags of toys you have high fives and hugging and moms get out and hugging everybody and it's awesome, priceless," said Lindale's Christmas Helpers volunteer Corky McLelland.   All the toys today will go to a child that lives in the Lindale community.
