Man Electrocuted In Alleged Copper Theft

       An East Texas man is electrocuted during an apparent copper theft in Gregg County.   It happened late Thursday afternoon on Meadows lane, just off I-20.   Investigators say two men were trying to cut the copper from a power pole, when one of them cut into a live wire. The 37 year old Longview man was pronounced dead at the scene. His alleged accomplice is in the Gregg County Jail tonight.

      "It's a tragedy unfortunately this is one of hazards and if you happened to touch or cut the wrong line that can be the result the result can be fatal, it's not the first time it's happened it's not the first time there's been a death related to copper theft" said Gregg County Sheriff Maxey Cerliano.

      The identities of the men have not been released. The jailed suspect will be arraigned tomorrow.
