Freedom Fighters: Larry Griffin

Larry Griffin is passionate about history, whether it's the history of this region or that of Vietnam, where he spent 27 months during the Vietnam War. Griffin says his family history of patriotism inspired him to volunteer for the Navy and for service in Vietnam.

As a certified Master Mechanic, Griffin spends most of his time repairing cars at Griffin's Auto in Hallsville. His love of history has inspired him to write two published books, with more on the way. He gets up at 4 A.M. to begin his writing and then spends the rest of his day at his auto shop.

None of Griffin's books so far are set in Vietnam. However it's a part of his personal history he'll never forget. Larry Griffin says he's "proud to have served his country."
