Workers May Be Trapped in Va. Building Collapse

Several construction workers were believed to be trapped Friday after a slab of wet concrete collapsed on the 24th floor of a building just across the Potomac River from Washington, officials said.

The cause of the accident was still unclear, police spokesman John Lisle said.

Several workers were believed to be trapped, and a handful of others had minor injuries, county spokeswoman Diana Sun said.

Oscar Moscoso, a worker at the site, said that he pulled out six people with his hands and shovels after the collapse.

He said he believed the accident occurred because the concrete on the scaffolding was too heavy.
