Tatum's Creer Shattering School Records

In Tatum's 72 years of Eagle football, future NFL and college stars have worn the green and white. But it is a member of the 2006 team that is rewriting the school's football history.

"I've just been blessed to have an ability and I just thank God for the things that he has given me," said Tatum running back Lennon Creer. "You only get one shot you've got to go out and make the most of any opportunity you get."

Lennon is the number four rated running back in the country and has shattered all the Eagle team records. Lennon is Tatum's all time rushing leader with more than 2,400 yards this season, 5,800 career yards. He also set the mark for most touchdowns in a season with 33, so far, and most career touchdowns with 62.

"The guys records I've broken, I just grew up watching those guys which are legends in Tatum and it's great just to be mentioned with them," he said.

It is his amazing numbers that have had recruiters from Tennessee, Texas, Oklahoma, Florida and Texas A&M milling about Tatum's fieldhouse.

"At first it was overwhelming but I just got over it because we've got to go on and play these games and try to win a state championship," Lennon said.

If ypu talk to any Tatum fan or even coach and they all say the same thing. What makes Lennon Creer so special is not just his ability in football, it is his character.

"He is a very humble kid," said Tatum head coach Andy Evans. "I've been consistent when I talk about Lennon, as good a football player as he is, he's an even better person."

"I know that without God none of this is possible," Lennon said.

Lennon and the Eagles try to punch a ticket to the state championship game this Saturday against Cotulla. That game at 7 p.m. at the Waco ISD complex.
