National Non-profit Helps Church Send Packages Overseas

A national organization whose mission is to support our troops stopped in Tyler today to help make this holiday season a little brighter for those overseas.   For the last month, the choir at Green Acres Baptist Church has been collecting items to send to the military.

With the help of Packages From Home, a national non-profit organization, about 300 boxes were put together today. Each soldier gets three boxes. One is full of food.  One is recreation items.  The other is hygiene products.

"If you ever think about what it's like for you on Christmas day to get that surprise that you didn't know was coming and you were like, 'Oh my gosh.  How great is that, somebody actually thought of me'," said Packages From Home public information officer Margy Bons.  "Imagine that everyday."

So far this month, Packages From Home has mailed more than 10,000 boxes to troops.
