Tree Lighting Ceremony In Tyler

The cold weather canceled a few events Thursday evening.

The city of Henderson was supposed to have their Christmas parade tonight. It has been rescheduled for Monday night, weather permitting.  The Tyler Jaycee's Christmas parade was also canceled, no word yet when it will be rescheduled.

Despite the cancellation, the weather didn't stop the lighting of the downtown Tyler Christmas tree. More than 7,000 lights cover the tree and thousands of lights decorate the downtown square. 11 year old Miracle Child Chase Duncan flipped the switch. Chase suffered life threatening injuries when he was hit by a motorcycle this year, but surgeons at Mother Frances Hospital were able to save him.

"It's an honor and humbling for Chase to get to do something like this in the community that has reached out and helped our family," says Holly Duncan, Chase's mother.

"It's really a great honor because I was picked out of a lot of kids to be lighting the tree," says Chase Duncan, miracle child.
