Old Car May Have Caused East Texas Home To Start On Fire

An old model car may be to blame for a house fire in West Tyler.   It happened at the corner of Morningside and William Spear in West Tyler just after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday afternoon.   A neighbor told fire officials they saw a fire in the hood of an older model Chevy Impala. They tried putting it out with a hose, but the fire quickly spread to the roof and through the rest of the house.

"Your first thought is to get here when you see it," said Michael Hackett, Homeowner. "You don't think it can happen to you, but it does, so we have to have faith in God, so all we can do is put our faith in that, that everything will work out."  There was significant damage to the house, but the homeowner says he is insured. No one was injured in the fire.
