Wildcats, In New Territory, Forced To Expand Their Goals

We've heard the goal stated by high school football teams countless times... They want to be practicing on Thanksgiving, which means gong two games deep into the playoffs. That was the goal of the Whitehouse Wildcats.  But, this is the week after thanksgiving.  Now what?

The Wildcats are still practicing.  It's a pleasantly new experience for Whitehouse, a football program that has never made it this far before, ever. They are soaking up the adoration of a now rabid fan base and don't mind adjusting their goals.

"Coming into the season, nobody thought we were going to win," said Wildcats senior offensive lineman Jakob Pillows.  "All the other teams thought we would just be an easy win, so we were scheduled for homecoming, but just winning and proving everybody wrong just feels really good.  It puts spirit into the team.  Everyone has got a completely different attitude about Whitehouse football right now."

"The kids are excited," said Wildcats head coach Randy McFarlin, "the community is excited, so we'll just stretch that goal (of practicing on Thanksgiving) out and say, all right, let's play all the way until Christmas now."

The Wildcats next test is Saturday at 2:00pm against Waco at Dalls ISD's Kincaide Stadium.
